Consultancy

Having been involved in the quote & design process from the inside of the DNO, we understand the delays and frustrations that can occur when clients deal with a former public utility, using terms and measures that may be unfamiliar to them.

Often it is a case of knowing the correct information to provide and the correct departments and persons to contact.  Talking the same terms and knowing the process inside and out helps to build an intimate relationship with the DNO representatives and breeds cooperation and speedy issue of quotations and connection proposals.

In the current climate, all the DNO's have increasing workloads, and it can be frustrating to get a prompt design  and quotation, or get a start and completion date for your project.

We can help to streamline this process by offering pre-design advice on what your project is likely to require, and provide as much detailed information as possible to help the DNO enquiries team deal with your project as quickly as possible. This helps all parties involved. The DNO staff get the information they require to process your application quickly and efficiently. You avoid delays in the process with further requests for information to enable a quotation to be sent out.

Once you've received your quotation and are ready to pay and commence, you can often hit further delays in getting your project started. Nearly all the DNO's require part or full payment on Acceptance of Contract, meaning they will be holding some or all of your money for some time prior to commencement on site.

We know how the process works and how to get the best results:-

  • Evaluate the likely requirements of your project
  • Provide detailed information to the DNO and an enquiry in the correct format
  • Get your enquiry to the correct department
  • Follow up the enquiry and provide additional information promptly
  • Examine the DNO quotation and technical proposals to ensure they have understood correctly what you require
  • Negotiate staged payments where possible
  • Maintain contact with the correct person to ensure prompt commencement of your project
  • Liaise between the DNO and your Site Manager(s) to ensure smooth running of the project.
  • Provide the technical experience your Site Manager requires to understand what is required of him/her

We can also advise on the work required at the boundary of the DNO and Customer system. This includes your HV and LV installations for large LV supplies and HV supplies. In many cases a commercial electrical contractor is entrusted with the interior works and does not have the full experience or knowledge of what is required of them at the interface. We can advise on the exact requirements and even physically undertake this portion of the works to support your normal electrical contractor.
